Summer course report

Our students fought for the honour of the North East at the English Karate Federation Regional Championships in Dudley on Sunday 21st March 2010.

Tyne and Wear Ishinryu's Joe Wright had a great run through the competition against some of the country's best 14 - 15 yr old Under 57kg fighters. He lost out in the final through inexperience but still brought home a Silver medal.

Vicky Tuffs and Shaun Arrowsmith (both of whom train with us on Thursday nights) fought extremely well. Vicky picked up a Bronze in her category fighting on in extra time with a knee injury. Shaun fought well in his weight category taking silver.

Well done to each of you, you have done our region proud!

Sunday 7th march 2010 saw a grand day out for the younger members of Tyne and Wear Ishinryu. Our students invaded Penrith to take part in the 4th Penrith Children's Open Karate Competition. All of our students perfprmed well under pressure with Emily Littler, Caitlin Watson and Grace Terry all taking medals. This however is only half the story.

Dania Enwright went out in the first round to the over all winner of the competition, and she was the same girl who beat Caitlin in the Semi final and Grace in the final.

Emily Littler took bronze in her class after losing out in a close semi final.

Our other competitors, Chantelle Riley, Sean Lishman, Joe Wright and Matthew Wright all competed well, and were a credit to our club. Again our thanks go out to Kev Blewitt and Vicky Tuffs who coached on the day, but most imnportantly to the parents who drove over, supported all the competitors in our club, and took several pictures which will soon be posted in the gallery in this site.

The support of the parents, the coachs, and the students for each other are what make our club a very special place to be at this moment in time!
